Some 55,000 Seventh-day Adventists representing more than 11 million members in 205 nations from around the world gathered at the Toronto Skydome for the first Sabbath service of their quinquennial conference.

During the opening session of the world conference of Seventh-day Adventists the president of Canada's postal service, Andrι Quellet, and the church president, Jan Paulsen, unveiled the first Seventh-day Adventist stamp in North America to be issued featuring the church.
