Why would anyone want to visit a booth on science? Especially one called the Geoscience Research Institute?
“This booth is about making science fun, interesting, and relevant to the church,” said Benjamin Clausen, one of the Institute’s directors. “There are many people who have questions about the creation vs evolution debate. Here you have an expert that you can talk with face to face; you’re not just sitting in a meeting, listening.”
Dinosaurs are a frequent topic of conversation at this booth. “We have been answering a lot of questions about dinosaurs,” said Jacques Sauvagnat, a member of the Geoscience Research Institute. “If you have questions about science and how it relates to your religion, this is the booth to come to.”
Visitors to the booth are able to watch video and PowerPoint displays particularly focused on creation. “We want to show people that the Seventh-day Adventist church has a resource in the area of science and religion, and more specifically, the area of evolution and creation,” said Clausen. “We want to provide answers to these questions.” |
